CTV announced today that it has inked a deal with Sony Pictures Television to acquire the new big buzz comedy MAD LOVE for its #1 Monday night comedy block.

Premiering appropriately on Valentine’s Day in simulcast with CBS, Monday, February 14 at 8:30 p.m. ET, MAD LOVE follows a twenty-something couple in love and their cynical best friends who despise each other.

The series will be paired Mondays with the much-anticipated new comedy MR. SUNSHINE (8 p.m. ET, beginning Feb. 7) starring Matthew Perry and Allison Janney, also from Sony Pictures Television (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times and complete series descriptions).

Starring Canadians Sarah Chalke (SCRUBS) and Tyler Labine (REAPER) along with Jason Biggs (American Pie) and Judy Greer (Love & Other Drugs), MAD LOVE also airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on The Comedy Network beginning Feb. 17 and on demand at CTV.ca and TheComedyNetwork.ca. Meanwhile, the women of HOT IN CLEVELAND move their “hotness” to CTV’s Thursday night comedy block beginning Feb. 24 at 8:30 p.m. ET, following THE BIG BANG THEORY.

“Matt Tarses and Jamie Tarses have assembled an incredibly talented and engaging ensemble cast. MAD LOVE has great potential and could be the next breakout comedy. It is the perfect addition to our Monday Night comedy block,” said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice-President, Programming, CTV Networks, CTV Inc.

Starring Ottawa’s Sarah Chalke and Brampton’s Tyler Labine, MAD LOVE is a comedy about a quartet of New Yorkers – two who are falling in love and another two who despise each other (at least for now). Ben (Biggs), a lawyer, is a hopeless romantic trying to build a relationship with Kate (Chalke), a beautiful, smart girl whom Ben thinks is the woman of his dreams. Larry (Labine), Ben’s unrefined best friend and co-worker, is a guy who doesn’t believe in love and has a long track record as the third wheel. Connie (Judy Greer, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT), Kate’s roommate, works as a nanny and finds Larry aggravating…or does she? Larry and Connie have a lot in common, but refuse to let their guard down long enough to see it.

In the series premiere of MAD LOVE (Monday, Feb. 14 at 8:30 p.m. ET), when Ben meets Kate atop the Empire State Building, quite by happenstance, it’s what you can call love-at-first-sight. All is going swimmingly until Ben’s girlfriend shows up…

See no evil. Speak no evil. Hear all evil. The hit CTV Original Series THE LISTENER is back with a spellbinding second season, Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET, beginning Feb. 8 on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

The much-anticipated new season of THE LISTENER takes over FLASHPOINT’s Tuesday night time-slot following its post-SUPER BOWL XLV season finale Feb. 6. Canada’s own Lauren Lee Smith (CSI) and Tara Spencer-Nairn (CORNER GAS) join the new season of the fast-paced, one-hour drama that sees paramedic Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik, The Timekeeper) further embrace his telepathic powers to help solve criminal investigations.

New episodes of THE LISTENER will be made available on demand the day following their television broadcast on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca. Viewers can also catch up on all previous episodes at CTV.ca and at popular download stores. THE LISTENER will also air on SPACE later this year.

“First with FLASHPOINT and now THE LISTENER, this prime Tuesday night timeslot gives viewers an excellent opportunity to catch their favourite home grown hits,” said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. “With the addition of impressive new cast members, Toby’s path takes a compelling turn this season as he matures into his telepathic powers and embraces his gift to help others.”

“This is a fantastic timeslot that demonstrates CTV’s commitment to getting Season 2 of THE LISTENER in front of Canadian viewers,” said Christina Jennings, Chairman and CEO, Shaftesbury Films.

Set in Toronto, the action-filled first season of THE LISTENER premiered on CTV in June 2009. Averaging nearly one million viewers in Canada, the series instantly became a hit, debuting at #1 in its 10 p.m. timeslot on CTV with an audience of 1.1 million viewers.

THE LISTENER premiered in 120 countries and 33 languages across FOX International Channels networks starting in March 2009. The series debuted to solid ratings in countries including UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Poland, Brazil and Turkey. THE LISTENER Season 2 will rollout on FOX International Channels’ local networks starting in March 2011.

This season, viewers can get the inside scoop on all the THE LISTENER action and experience the series on a whole new virtual level on listener.CTV.ca, Facebook, and Twitter. Coming soon to listener.ctv.ca is The Listener’s Vision Buster Game, where users take on the role of Toby, and are required to concentrate on a series of images as they flash on-screen. Users then need to piece together the meaning of these images to determine the phrase the images are trying to communicate and enter their answers on screen. With each level, the phrases become more complicated and the images flash with greater speed. Players can share their scores with online communities, and challenge others to beat high scores.

In the Season 2 premiere of THE LISTENER “Lady in the Lake” (Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 10 p.m. ET), Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik) – still haunted by guilt over the murder of his friend Detective Charlie Marks and the disappearance of his mother – has resolved to stop fighting against his mysterious gift and use his telepathic abilities to help others. When he revives a woman (Rekha Sharma, V) who nearly drowned, her amnesia gives him the perfect opportunity. But unbeknownst to him, she’s tangled in a case of corporate espionage and murder, and she might not be the victim he presumes. As he sets out to help her remember her past, she’s also being investigated by Sgt. Michelle McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith) of the IIB, who has taken a special interest in Toby’s connection to the woman and uncovered his more than coincidental history with a number of major criminal cases in the past.

Toby Logan is THE LISTENER – a paramedic with a gift. In addition to being a highly skilled first responder, he’s been blessed, and cursed, with telepathic abilities that allow him to read people’s thoughts. In Season 2, when Toby stumbles into a case investigated by the Integrated Investigative Bureau (IIB) of the RCMP, he finds he must reveal his gift to Sgt. Michelle McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith). Despite her initial scepticism, Michelle comes to realize Toby’s extraordinary potential. While maintaining his standing as a paramedic, Toby is enlisted to consult with IIB. There he and his partner “Oz” (Ennis Esmer, WIPEOUT CANADA, Young People F**king) join Michelle as well as her brilliant junior partner, computer maven Corp. Dev Clark (Rainbow Sun Francks, STARGATE ATLANTIS) and Alvin Klein (Peter Stebbings, MADISON) the Bureau’s in-house legal expert to help solve IIB’s most difficult cases.

Joining the staff at St. Luke Hospital to work alongside Dr. Olivia Fawcett (Mylène Dinh-Robic, STARGATE ATLANTIS) and EMS supervisor George Ryder (Arnold Pinnock, THIS IS WONDERLAND) is Sandy (Tara Spencer-Nairn), a triage nurse who runs the floor with military precision and dry humour.
