Led by News Hour anchors Anne Mroczkowski and Leslie Roberts, Global Toronto’s Sgt. Russell Remembered special will report live from the ceremony being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Live coverage of the funeral for Sgt. Ryan Russell will also be streamed online at globalnews.ca.

Sgt. Russell Remembered will feature interviews and commentary, followed by coverage of the ceremony, which begins at 1:00pm. News Hour reporters Catherine McDonald, Alex Pierson, Mark McAllister and Marianne Dimain will also report live on the ground as the funeral procession makes its way to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

“This is a tragic moment for all of us. Our aim is to provide viewers with an opportunity to share in the grief of the family of Sgt. Russell, and the Toronto Police force,” says Ward Smith, News Director and Station Manager, Global Toronto. “Sgt. Russell exemplified the best of our community and we are proud to set aside time to celebrate his life and his commitment to our safety.”

Arrangements have been made to accommodate more than 10,000 mourners for Tuesday’s ceremonies, with thousands of officers from police forces across the continent expected to be in attendance.
