American Idol gains momentum as audiences increase to 3.1 million viewers in week 2

AMERICAN IDOL gained momentum in its second week last night on CTV, increasing 8% to 3.1 million viewers compared to last week.

AMERICAN IDOL also grew by 12% with A18-49 (1.59 million), 13% with A25-54 (1.52 million) and 20% with A18-34 (816,000).

The #1 program of the night nationally and in all key demos, AMERICAN IDOL was also the #1 (non-sports) program of the night in the Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver markets with the key A18-49 and A25-54 demos.

Building its audience from one hour to the next and peaking at nearly 4 million viewers, the broadcast was sampled by 7.8 million unique viewers.

At 10 p.m., CTV’s BLUE BLOODS bested OFF THE MAP for a second week in a row with 1.7 million viewers on CTV. Growing 4% from last week, BLUE BLOODS won the hour with total viewers and all key adult demos and delivered 63% more viewers than OFF THE MAP (ABC/Global; 1 million).
