T.U.F.F. PUPPY – SERIES PREMIERE

Premieres: Wednesday, January 5 at 6 p.m. ET

The action-packed T.U.F.F. Puppy centers around Dudley Puppy (voiced by iCarly’s Jerry Trainor), a gung-ho, dim-witted dog who finds himself accidentally thrust into the role of secret agent when he’s recruited by the super-secret, crime-fighting organization, T.U.F.F. (Turbo Undercover Fighting Force).

Puppy partners with Kitty Katswell, a feline superspy who is a skilled kung fu and weapons expert. Naturally, they don’t get along – but together they protect their hometown of Petropolis and the rest of the world against the evil animal organization, D.O.O.M. (Diabolical Order of Mayhem).

This Nick original animated series is created and executive produced by Butch Hartman, creator of the Emmy®-winning series The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom.

PLANET SHEEN – SERIES PREMIERE

Premieres: Friday, January 7 at 6 p.m. ET

Planet Sheen follows the intergalactic adventures of Sheen Guevera Estevez, the hyperactive kid from Nick’s popular television series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius.

Sheen finds himself stranded after he accidentally “borrows” a rocket and crash lands on planet Zeenu, a world of limited technology that is inhabited by not-too-bright creatures and ruled by an Emperor who becomes fascinated with Sheen.

The series follows Sheen as he deals with Zeenu’s bizarre customs and creatures, including the jealous villain Dorkus. In every episode, Sheen makes it his mission to teach the superior ways of Earth and bring Zeenu into the 21st century – though he possesses no skills to do so.

Created by Steve Oedekerk, creator of Nick’s hit film franchises Jimmy Neutron and Barnyard as well as Keith Alcorn (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius).

Taylor Momsen has reportedly been put on “indefinite hiatus” from ‘Gossip Girl’.

The 17-year-old singer-and-actress – who has portrayed Jenny Humphrey in just three episodes of the current season so far – will not appear on screen after the episode which airs next Monday (29.11.10), reports website Deadline.

Though representatives for the TV series have refused to comment on the claims, insiders insist Taylor’s airtime has been shelved for “strictly creative reasons”.

Friends of the star – who fronts rock band The Pretty Reckless – insist she doesn’t care about the show anymore and is only concerned about her ‘Gossip Girl’pay cheque.

One pal told UsMagazine.com: “She only does the show for the money. She works hard on ‘Gossip Girl’but doesn’t care about the plot or the other cast members. She treats it like a 9-5. No emotional investment.”

Taylor – who has starred in ‘Gossip Girl’since the pilot episode -previously confessed she doesn’t feel close to any of her co-stars, who include Blake Lively, Chace Crawford and Leighton Meester, on the show.

She said: “I’m not really close with my cast. We’re all cordial and nice to each other, but we’re not really friends outside of the set.”

“I’m confident his launch of ‘X Factor’in the US next year will build on that success for years to come.

LAST DAY OF THE DINOSAURS has become Discovery Channel’s most-watched special event broadcast ever, with 685,000 viewers tuning in Sunday night for the landmark television event.

Drawing in a combined reach of more than two million viewers from 8 – 9:30 p.m. ET, LAST DAY OF THE DINOSAURS successfully rocked audiences with a stunning re-creation of a blow-by-blow revelation of what happened 65 million years ago.

The special – an original Canadian production – was the #1 non-sports specialty program on Canadian television Sunday night not only with total viewers, but also for A25-54 (293,000) and A18-49 (285,000).

This fully-immersive television experience realistically portrays a cataclysm of unimaginable proportions that ended the dinosaur dynasty and forever changed the very existence of life on Earth.

After kicking off Discovery Channel’s “Dino Week,” the critically-acclaimed production airs again this Thursday, November 25 at 8 p.m. ET in SD on Discovery Channel and in HD on Discovery World HD. An extended 3D experience is also available online at DiscoveryWorldHD.ca beginning on Friday, November 26 (watch it in 3D online with red and cyan anaglyph glasses or in Standard Definition).

“LAST DAY OF THE DINOSAURS reinforces Discovery Channel as a Canadian leader in factual storytelling and now in 3D,” said Ken MacDonald, Vice-President of Programming for Discovery Channel. “Transmitting a first-rate documentary in four different formats on the same night was a remarkable task and now with Friday’s online viewing extension, we are adding yet another layer to this incredible success story.”

Available to viewers in four dynamic viewing platforms – SD, HD, anaglyph 3D and active 3D – LAST DAY OF THE DINOSAURS is an incredible multidisciplinary endeavour that cleverly marries the art of science, technology and storytelling in one world-class documentary program.

The program taps the latest research from the world’s leading experts drawing on virtually every scientific discipline – from palaeontology and geology to climatology and astrophysics. This truly dynamic television experience follows the doomed, the brave and the survivors in the extraordinary story of these once-mighty rulers. With 18 months of exhaustive scientific research, 30,000 hours of visual effects and animation work by a team of artists – rendering approximately 1,090,000 images! – LAST DAY OF THE DINOSAURS is the definitive explanation of why there aren’t any dinosaurs in your backyard today.

Visit DiscoveryChannel.ca and DiscoveryWorldHD.ca to learn more about how the special was produced, including a photo gallery of the models as they were constructed as well as FX sets and bonus material.

“Dino Week” continues tonight on Discovery Channel featuring three more episodes of PREHISTORIC that examine what U.S. cities would have looked like at the time the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Details include:

PREHISTORIC: “Denver”

Tues., Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

Evidence found in Denver holds the key to unlocking an ancient mystery about when humans first arrived in North America.

PREHISTORIC: “Dallas”

Wed., Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

From ancestors of the famous longhorn cattle to mammoths, large cats and overgrown armadillos of the Ice Age, everything about Dallas was always big; swim with mosasaurs in downtown Dallas; meet Paluxysaurus, the state dinosaur of Texas.

PREHISTORIC: “Washington, D.C.”

Fri., Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

Washington, D.C. was once a beach town whose waters were teeming with the largest shark ever known; the land was patrolled by a predator that looked like a dog but was bigger than a grizzly.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that the Bravo!-commissioned GENIUS WITHIN: THE INNER LIFE OF GLENN GOULD has been shortlisted for an Academy® Award for Best Documentary Feature.

Commissioned and developed by Bravo!, the film had its world broadcast premiere on Bravo! earlier this year and recently went on to win a Gemini Award for Best Biography Documentary Program.

GENIUS WITHIN is one of fifteen documentaries that will move onto the second round of voting that will determine the final nominees in the category.

“Congratulations to Peter Raymont and everyone at White Pines Pictures for this incredible honour,” said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. “Since its premiere at TIFF in 2009, GENIUS WITHIN has been wowing audiences with its detailed portrait of one of Canada’s most iconic artists, and we’re proud to have been a part of it from the beginning.”

As an enigmatic musical poet and world-renowned pianist, Canada’s own Glenn Gould continues to captivate 28 years after his untimely death. A collaboration between award-winning documentary filmmaker Peter Raymont and award-winning editor Michèle Hozer, Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould explores the personal side of Glenn Gould the man, how he turned his back on celebrity for the sake of his art and whose devotion to his craft cost him the relationships most dear to him.

Intimately revealing the man behind the myth, GENIUS WITHIN: THE INNER LIFE OF GLENN GOULD casts a fresh light on the mysterious pianist whose ideas were as controversial, and his private life as passionate, as his music. The film features never-before seen footage of Gould, photographs, and excerpts from his private home recordings and diaries. The biography also reveals personal memories from Gould’s most intimate friends and lovers, some who have never spoken about him publicly before.

The longest-running drama on television turns 50 years old this year, and CBC Television is marking the occasion with a new special: Corrie Crazy: Canada Loves Coronation Street.  Airing Thursday, December 9 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT), the special is hosted by Canadian television host, design guru and Coronation Street fan, Debbie Travis.

“I know the loyalty and devotion of Corrie fans may seem crazy to those who don’t watch the show, but like millions of Canadians, I’ve always been ‘Corrie Crazy’,” said Travis, who hails from the part of England in which the show is set. “It was an incredible experience to travel home to Manchester to talk to the people who make and star in the program.”

To explore the Canadian cultural phenomenon of Coronation Street, Travis talks to fans, media watchers, broadcast executives, and even academics who help explain the show’s overwhelming success.

“What we learn about the power and appeal of this so-called ‘soap opera’ will surprise fans and non-fans alike,” explained Travis.

In fact, even after almost 40 years on Canadian television, the show continues to attract and gain fans.  Last season on CBC, Coronation Street reached more than 13.5 million Canadians, and so far this season, one in five Canadians have already tuned into Coronation Street on weekday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Corrie Crazy is produced by Vancouver-based Force Four Entertainment, one of Canada’s most successful and respected television production companies.  Since beginning operations in 1983, Force Four has produced more than 300 hours of primetime broadcast programming, earning accolades on the national and international stage.
