Eleven teams are set on a trek around the world for 30 days. At every destination, each couple will have to compete in challenges in order to find out the next destination. The final team to arrive at each destination will be eliminated. The last couple standing wins $1 million dollars.

Mike Holmes continues his mission to “Make It Right”™ as he helps combat disastrous property repairs in the second season of the popular HGTV series Holmes Inspection beginning Thursday, January 6 at 9pm ET/PT. The second season is part of HGTV’s new winter lineup that includes 12 new seasons and series in primetime.

Each episode showcases an innocent homeowner facing extremely large repair bills and dangerous living conditions. With the help of state-of-the-art computer graphics, Mike is in full inspection mode; unearthing catastrophic holes in homes. With lots of power tools, demolition, and a hard working crew that includes Mike Holmes’ kids, Mike Jr. and Sherry and right-hand man Damon Bennett at the helm, the team sets off on a head-on seek and repair mission, determined to “Make It Right”™.

Offering viewers the chance to witness, first hand, the unique dilemmas faced by house purchasers who’ve been misled and now face daunting renovations, Holmes Inspection sheds light on the importance of spotting problems before you buy. Mike and his dedicated crew, entrenched in the construction and building trade, provide their unique perspective and show how to get a house up to code. 

Full episodes of Holmes Inspection will be available at www.hgtv.ca the day after airing.

CTV unwrapped its holiday programming lineup today, featuring a variety of festive specials, Christmas classics, jolly stunt programming, and more.

The announcement comes just days after the network’s unprecedented coverage of THE SANTA CLAUS PARADE and features two feel good favourites that join CTV’s holiday schedule for the first time: Disney’s ONE MAGIC CHRISTMAS, premiering Sunday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. ET; followed by UNCLE BUCK at 9 p.m. ET.

Viewers can also spend Christmas Day (Dec. 25) with everyone’s favourite green ogre, as CTV presents its inaugural SHREK-A-THON, featuring the first three blockbuster hits airing back-to-back, beginning at 12 p.m. ET.

Then, CTV rings in the New Year with the North American broadcast premiere of the hilarious comedy, KNOCKED UP (Dec. 31 at 11:30 p.m. ET), starring Katherine Heigl and Canada’s own Seth Rogan.

ETALK returns with an array of brand-new, year-end specials airing daily at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET, beginning Monday, Dec. 20, including ETALK’s annual HOLIDAY MOVIE GUIDE (Dec. 20 & 24). Also airing on New Year’s Eve, ETALK PRESENTS: THE YEAR IN GOSSIP 2010, airing Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. ET.

Kirstine Stewart, interim executive vice-president, CBC English Services, today announced the network’s lineup of festive holiday programming. Kicking off Sunday, Nov. 28 with FROSTY THE SNOWMAN at 5 p.m. (5:30 NT), the festivities continue through December with a series of special television events.

The stars of the CBC’s regular season will be celebrating with Canadians, with special holiday episodes of BEING ERICA, airing Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT), A Heartland CHRISTMAS, Dec.12 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT), LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE ‘A HOLIDAY SPECIAL,’ Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) and Dragons’ Den, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) – and a festive feast from BEST RECIPES EVER, Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. (3:30 NT).

And of course, the festivities continue right through to 2011, with a New Year’s Eve line-up that includes specials from JUST FOR LAUGHS, 7 p.m. (7:30 NT), AIR FARCE, 8 p.m. (8:30 NT), THE RON JAMES SHOW, 9 p.m. (9:30 NT), and George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight.

Other highlights from the CBC 2010 holiday season include:

SEASON OF SONG: THE CANADIAN TENORS AND FRIENDS airs Dec.13 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT). An hour-long special featuring performances of holiday favourites by The Canadian Tenors alongside some of Canada’s greatest musical legends and the world’s hottest young stars.

STEVEN AND CHRIS once again host the holiday party that no one wants to miss, with a full week of holiday programming. Get one-of-a-kind seasonal tips on Fashion, Décor, Food and Health, beginning Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. (2:30 NT).

George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight: A Holiday Special, airs Dec. 24 at 11:05 p.m. (11:35 NT), and celebrates with new takes on traditional holiday tunes including performances by Chrissie Hynde, Broken Social Scene, Johnny Reid and OK GO, along with a celebrity reading of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas starring Russell Peters, Sir Richard Branson and more.

Holiday celebrations take to the ice with three special television events. First, catch up with your favourite hockey players-turned figure skaters on BATTLE OF THE BLADES: AFTER THE ICE MELTS, airing Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT). BO BURNHAM: WORDS,WORDS,WORDS – Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT

In 2006, 16-year-old Bo Burnham posted two of his comedic songs on YouTube. Today, with over 60 million views on his channel, this 20-year-old comedian/singer/songwriter/musician, is the youngest person ever to record a COMEDY CENTRAL PRESENTS special. Burnham’s mix of intelligent, silly and sometimes offensive lyrics have pushed him to the forefront of the new comic scene. Taped in Burnham’s hometown of Boston, WORDS, WORDS, WORDS displays his unique wordplay and comedic musical styling.
