From Two-Step to Lace Up: New Reality Competition Series SKATING WITH THE STARS

Celebrities have proven they can burn-up the dance floor, but can they melt an ice rink? CTV announced today that it will air SKATING WITH THE STARS, the new reality competition series from the creative team behind hit dance competition, DANCING WITH THE STARS. The six-episode series kicks-off with a live, two-hour premiere Monday, Nov. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, following the DANCING WITH THE STARS final performance show at 8 p.m.

SKATING WITH THE STARS pairs a celebrity with a world-class figure skater as they compete in front of a live audience in a televised ice skating showdown. Skating pairs are critiqued by a panel of expert judges and voted on by viewers.  Each week, the couple who receives the lowest combined total of judge’s points and audience votes is eliminated. The all-star cast of SKATING WITH THE STARS will be announced on-air during the live DANCING WITH THE STARS 90 minute results show on Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV (check local listings).

After enduring hours of rigorous training, celebrities will display their best figure skating and ice dancing moves on what is sure to be one of the world’s most spectacular ice rink sets. Danger will hover close each week as the couples are challenged to incorporate various intense moves into their routines – from Double Axels to Sit Spins and Split Jumps – leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.

SKATING WITH THE STARS is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions and distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Izzie Pick (DANCING WITH THE STARS, and the UK’s STRICTLY COME DANCING) and Phil Edgar Jones (BIG BROTHER, and CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER) serve as executive producers. Paul Osborne (I’M A CELEBRITY…GET ME OUT OF HERE!, and SECRET MILLIONAIRE) will serve as co-executive producer. Alex Rudzinski (DANCING WITH THE STARS) will direct.
