The New Governor General: CBC News special on Friday, Oct. 1

CBC News provides extensive and insightful live coverage of the installation of Canada’s 28th Governor General, David Johnston, Friday, Oct. 1, on CBC Television, CBC News Network, CBC Radio and CBCNews.ca.

The broadcast special, The New Governor General, airs live across the country, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET, on CBC Television and CBC News Network with chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge. On CBC Radio One, Kathleen Petty, host of The House, anchors live coverage beginning at 11 a.m. ET.

Joining her is Andrew Cohen, columnist and president of the Historica-Dominion Institute, and Chris Hall of CBC News who will provide analysis. And CBCNews.ca carries live streaming of the ceremony and presents an exploration of the history of the Governor General’s role in Canada as well as dynamic real-time discussion of Canadians’ reaction to the departure of Michaëlle Jean and the arrival of David Johnston.
