Durham County receives 7 Gemini nominations

The second season of the riveting 6 hr. crime series Durham County received 7 Gemini nominations today. The Gemini Awards are Canada’s “Emmy Awards” and honour outstanding achievement in television.

Durham County – Season 2 received nominations for Best Dramatic Series (Michael Prupas, Janis Lundman, Adrienne Mitchell and Laurie Finstad Knizhnik); Best Direction (Adrienne Mitchell); Best Actress (Hélène Joy) as well as Best Casting, Best Make-up, Best Sound and Best Main Title Design. In 2009, the series brought home 5 Gemini Awards.

Praised by the New York Times as “entirely addictive”, Durham County is developed and produced by Muse Entertainment Enterprises Inc. and Back Alley Film Productions Ltd. with Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central and Astral Media’s The Movie Network. The series is produced with participation from the Canadian Media Fund and is being distributed internationally by ITV Global Entertainment Media. Durham County season 3 will air this fall on The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Movie Central (Western Canada).

Other Muse Entertainment titles nominated for this year’s Gemini awards include: The Mini-Series Ben Hur (Best Sound & Best Visual Effects) – a Muse Entertainment (Canada)/Drimtim Entertainment (Spain) production in association with Zak Productions (Morocco), Akkord Film (Germany) and FishCorbFilms; the mini-series The Phantom (Best Mini-series, Best Editing for Arthur Tarnowski); the TV movie Carny (Best Visual Effect) and the tween series Family Biz (Best Direction for Craig Pryce) – a Muse Entertainment, Summit Crescent Productions and France’s Breakout Films production.
