CTV's eTalk is undisputed ratings leader with TIFF 2010 coverage

The results are in. For the sixth year in a row, Canadians chose CTV’s ETALK as their #1 source for coverage of the Toronto International Film Festival, out-performing ET CANADA not only in total viewers, but all key demos as well.

With the red carpets now rolled up for another year, preliminary overnight data shows that ETALK averaged 452,000 viewers during seven nights of coverage, a lead of 34% over ET CANADA (338,000) among total viewers.

In Toronto, TIFF’s backyard and Canada’s largest television market, the lead grows to 59% for ETALK. An average of nearly 2 million viewers watched ETALK coverage in whole or in part each day of the Festival on CTV.

During the Festival, CTV.ca pages with ETALK content saw nearly 1.9 million page views, an increase of 24% from last year*.

“As always, our focus was firmly on our viewers across the country, putting all our resources on the television screen to deliver the most exclusive and comprehensive coverage anywhere,” said Morley Nirenberg, Director of Production/Executive Producer. “By targeting our audience vertically through TV, online, Blackberry® Messenger, and Twitter updates, we leveraged our brand on multiple levels, engaging viewers on their terms.”

Coverage of the Festival continues with two upcoming half-hour specials, ETALK PRESENTS: THE CAST OF CONVICTION and ETALK PRESENTS: BARNEY’S VERSION, set to premiere on CTV at a later date.

Once again, ETALK cements itself as Canada’s premiere entertainment news source. Throughout the festival, anchors Ben Mulroney and Tanya Kim, along with ETALK reporters Lainey, Traci Melchor, Danielle McGimsie, and Susie Wall, were at the most sought-after red carpets and spoke to the A-list celebrities in town to bring Canada the most extensive and up-to-the-minute coverage of TIFF.

From Ryan Gosling to Ryan Reynolds and Natalie Portman to Jennifer Connelly, and more, ETALK brought their best moments to viewers across Canada. ETALK also held a vast and exclusive presence across Toronto with lounges at some of most star-studded spots in the city, including the Joe Fresh Style® ETALK Celebrity Interview Lounge at the Intercontinental Hotel and the Panasonic Celebrity Photo Wall at Teatro Verde in Yorkville.
