It was the largest of all the ancient empires and its success was based on the simplest of weapons – one that was essentially some string, a twig and a sharp stick – the bow and arrow. But the devil is in the details and the Mongolians of almost 1,000 years ago created an unparalleled weapon, the composite bow, which allowed them to forge the largest bordering empire in the history of the world. Mad men actress Alison Brie has confirmed she is returning to the drama series for the next season.

The actress, who plays Pete Campbell’s wife Trudy, will feature in the fourth season of the show after taking time out to work on other projects.

Brie admits it was difficult to return to the role after so long away: “To go back to Mad Men this summer after eight months of constant work on Community playing just about the opposite character was really daunting,” Brie told Entertainment Weekly.

“I was very nervous I’d forgotten how to be Trudy. But then you put on the clothes and get the hair done and it is like you never left. Welcome back to the ’60s. Without prodding, I’m like, ‘The pot roast is ready!'”
