2010 MuchMusic Video Awards rock the block party

Knock-out performances, the hottest celebs and die-hard fans rocked the 2010 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS tonight, launching MuchMusic HQ into epic fan-demonium.

Teen heart-throb Justin Bieber lit up the MMVAs stage and took home top honours scoring three awards (the coveted UR FAVE Video, UR FAVE New Artist, and Best International Video by a Canadian).

Pop-rock darlings Hedley, tied for top place, also taking home hardware (for Best Video, Pop Video of the Year, and Post-Production of the Year). Fans also weighed in more than ever before casting 513,000 votes in UR FAVE categories – an increase of 44,000 votes over last year.  Encore presentations can be seen throughout the week on MuchMusic.

Co-host and pop-sensation Miley Cyrus caused a stir at the legendary corner of Queen and John with white-hot performances all night long, and a win for International Video of the Year.

After glamming up the MMVAs stage with his hit single “Whataya Want From Me,” international superstar Adam Lambert left with the highly-coveted UR FAVE International Video award. And California Gurl Katy Perry did not disappoint, bringing the heat to throngs of screaming fans.

The MuchMusic.com Most Watched Video was awarded to Young Artists for Haiti for their collaboration of K’Naan’s “Wavin’ Flag”. The 2010 MMVAs donated $10,000 to the people of Haiti in support of earthquake relief through Young Artists for Haiti. This donation was made on behalf of the performers and presenters in lieu of a MMVAs gift lounge.

“It is so cool to celebrate artists with artists.  It’s about the music, which is really special to me.  I’ve never seen so much love tonight – it was awesome,” said co-host Miley Cyrus.

“It’s was an amazing night, with the return of homegrown stars and the biggest names in music rocking out for MuchMusic fans,” said Brad Schwartz, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Much MTV Group, CTV Inc. “From Miley to Lambert, Bieber to Katy, the MMVAs put our fans right in the centre of the action, taking them behind the scenes on muchmusic.com, and getting them closer to their favourite stars than ever before.”
