Paula Abdul will return to television in an all new talent competition on American network CBS.

The ex American Idol judge will take up a slot on a reality show called Got To Dance, based on the British original.

Not only will Abdul lead the judging panel, but she will also coach and mentor the contestants while serving as a creative partner and executive producer on the show.

The Got To Dance format will incorporate all forms of dance and promote itself as an all-ages contest with public participation in the form of voting during the semis and finals.

Since leaving American Idol last year, Abdul has received a lot of interest from other reality shows looking to secure her services with Dancing with the Stars making an offer earlier this year.

There is a possibility Got To Dance will be screened mid-season and therefore go head-to-head with American Idol.
