New series Haven to premiere on Showcase this summer

Canwest Broadcasting announces the pick-up of Haven, E1 Entertainment’s much-anticipated drama series, co-commissioned with Syfy. Emily Rose (Jericho, Brothers and Sisters, ER), Lucas Bryant (Queer as Folk, Dollhouse), and Eric Balfour (24, Six Feet Under) have been cast in the series, based on the novella The Colorado Kid from legendary author Stephen King.  The one hour, 13-episode series is set to premiere this summer on Showcase.

Haven centers on the small town of Haven, Maine, where FBI agent Audrey (Emily Rose) discovers that the curious enclave is a longtime refuge for people with supernatural afflictions. As the townspeople’s dormant abilities begin to express themselves, Audrey helps keep these forces at bay while discovering the many secrets of Haven – including one surrounding her own surprising past in this extraordinary place.

“The drama and suspense of Haven is sure to resonate with our audiences,” said Christine Shipton, SVP, Dramatic and Factual Content, Canwest Broadcasting.  “With intriguing supernatural storylines and fascinating characters played by such a talented cast, we can’t wait to get this into production.”

Production on Haven is scheduled to begin this Spring 2010.
