CBC News Remembrance Day Ceremony Live Coverage

As Canadians pay tribute to our troops and peacekeepers, who lost their lives in the Boer, First and Second World Wars, Korea and more recently Afghanistan, CBC News carries live coverage of the Remembrance Day Ceremony from the National War Memorial in Ottawa and brings Canadians first-hand accounts from those on the frontlines and their families. This year’s ceremony will also be attended by Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall as they conclude their Canadian tour. Below are broadcast details for CBC News’ special Remembrance Day coverage for November 10 and 11.

November 10

CBC News chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge hosts a special edition of THE NATIONAL from Ottawa.  In the broadcast, Don Newman interviews Canadian combat cameramen from the Second World War. THE NATIONAL airs at 10 p.m. (10:30 NT), on CBC Television, and 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET/PT, on CBC News Network.

On THE CURRENT, host Anna Maria Tremonti is joined by acclaimed historian Antony Beevor, author of D-Day: The Battle of Normandy, and Garth Webb, who was a 25-year-old Lieutenant in the Canadian Army when he first set foot on Juno Beach, on June 6, 1944. THE CURRENT airs at 8:30 a.m. (9 a.m. NT), on CBC Radio One.

November 11

CBC News Special coverage of the Remembrance Day Ceremony from the National War Memorial in Ottawa:

· From Ottawa, Peter Mansbridge hosts coverage of the ceremony along with esteemed historian Jack Granatstein. The coverage airs on CBC Television from 10 a.m. – noon local (11 a.m. AT and 11:30 a.m. NT), and live on CBC News Network, at 10 a.m. ET.

· On CBC Radio One, Alison Smith hosts live coverage of the ceremony with retired Colonel Brian MacDonald, senior defence analyst at the Conference of Defence Associations, and Colonel Jean Francois Riffou, director of programmes at the Canadian Forces College. CBC News reporter James Fitzmorris will be at the War Memorial in Ottawa, and James Murray will report on how soldiers serving in Afghanistan mark the day. Coverage on CBC Radio One begins at 10:55 a.m. ET

· CBCNews.ca carries a live stream of the ceremony from Ottawa

· A moment of silence will be observed across the country at 11 a.m. local (12 p.m. AT, 12:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Television, 11 a.m. ET on CBC News Network
