BNN Announces Fall 2009 Broadcast Schedule

CTV’s Business News Network- BNN turns 10 years old today, and in celebration BNN is presenting special anniversary programming looking back over the past 10 years.  Starting today, Tuesday, September 1, 2009, BNN presents special vignettes within regular programming that highlight the milestones in BNN’s broadcast history as well as the stories that have captivated the business community since 1999. Today, BNN is stronger than ever, reaching 5.8 million subscribers* with an average audience of 1.2 million viewers tuning in each week**., recently awarded RTNDA’s Best Use of New Media, will also follow the retrospective look back at a decade of business broadcasting.

Since ROBTv (renamed BNN in 2008) launched on September 1, 1999, it has been the go-to destination for business stories that matter to Canadians. BNN’s team of 120 staff works tirelessly to bring viewers 25 live business interviews daily, and to date have conducted more than 60,000 live interviews.

On Wednesday, September 30 at 8:30 p.m. ET, BNN presents BNN FLASHBACK, a special 30-minute, 10th anniversary program. BNN FLASHBACK features a countdown of the stories that have shaped Canadian business this decade. BNN has covered a range of top business stories from Y2K hysteria in 1999 to the Canada/U.S softwood lumber dispute of 2002 to the Conrad Black trial of 2007. In September, 2008, the story of Canada’s recession resulted in a 291% spike in ratings for BNN***, a story that will challenge the others for the top spot in the countdown of the Top 10 headlines that helped shape business new from 1999-2009. The Top 10 stories will be revealed during BNN FLASHBACK by a distinguished panel of Canadian business experts who weigh in on why the stories have mattered to Canadians:

Today, BNN announces their 10th year of business news programming and unveils BNN’s Fall Schedule 2009, premiering Tuesday September 8, 2009. BNN is back with the popular programs and personalities viewers have come to expect from the business broadcast leader. Notable changes are Andrew Bell, who becomes the new face of COMMODITIES REPORT and the host a new half hour called AFTER HOURS; Howard Green, who helms extended and more prominent versions of HEADLINE along side new co-host Andrea Mandel-Campbell and MARKET CALL; Michael Hainsworth, who picks up hosting duties for THE CLOSE and MARKET CALL TONIGHT; Kim Parlee, who moves over from THE CLOSE to host SQUEEZEPLAY; and Mark Bunting, who takes over the reigns of BNN’s popular show THE BUSINESS NEWS (all programming subject to change).
