CBC First Canadian Broadcaster to Offer HD Content On iTunes

CBC has become the first Canadian broadcaster to offer original Canadian television programming in high definition (HD) on the iTunes Store in Canada (www.iTunes.ca), paving the way for people to catch their favourite TV shows when and where they want. Launched this month, hit CBC Television series BEING ERICA and THE TUDORS are the first to be available. Both racked up multiple Gemini nominations this week, including nods for Best Dramatic Series.

Already a strong presence on iTunes, with dozens of top-rated podcasts and the popular CBC Radio iPhone Application, CBC is once again at the forefront of digital offerings. As more and more Canadians download both audio and video content, CBC continues to launch innovative products to meet these demands.

Many popular CBC Television series are currently available to download in standard definition on iTunes, including THE RICK MERCER REPORT, LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE, THE BORDER, HEARTLAND, DRAGONS’ DEN and THE NATURE OF THINGS, as well as BEING ERICA and THE TUDORS.

The first season of heartfelt and hilarious time travel on Being Erica can be purchased in HD for $2.99 per episode. The show is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with CBC Television.

The first and second seasons of critically acclaimed and Emmy®- nominated THE TUDORS are available in HD for $2.99 per episode. THE TUDORS is produced by Toronto-based Peach Arch Entertainment in Association with CBC Television and Showtime Networks.
