Top Business Journalist Amanda Lang Joins CBC News

Amanda Lang, host of Business News Network’s SqueezePlay, is joining CBC News this fall.  At a time when business news is more important than ever to Canadians, Lang will bring her business acumen to viewers with astute analysis, lively debates and key interviews. In addition to hosting a new business program on CBC Newsworld, weekdays at 4:30 p.m. ET, Lang will regularly contribute to CBC NEWS: THE NATIONAL.

“Amanda is one of the most respected business journalists in this country and we’re delighted to welcome her to the CBC News team,” said Jennifer McGuire, general manager and editor-in-chief, CBC News. “She has built a loyal following and we look forward to Amanda bringing her business reporting savvy to our viewers.”

Amanda Lang is a veteran business journalist who got her start at The Globe and Mail before moving to the Financial Post, first as a technology reporter and later as the paper’s New York correspondent. Amanda began her television career in 1999 at the newly launched Report on Business Television (now known as Business News Network) and in the past 10 years she also worked at CNN, reporting from the New York Stock Exchange.

“It’s an honour to join CBC News, with its rich legacy, and to host a show that’s part of CBC’s dynamic new direction in programming,” said Lang. “I look forward to bringing the day’s breaking business news and continuing a no-holds-barred approach to the people, companies and stories making that news.”
