HEALTHY GOURMET – SERIES PREMIERE

Produced by Kaleidoscope Entertainment in association with VIVA, Healthy Gourmet is a half-hour series that follows nutritionist Julie Daniluk and Chef Ezra Title as they tackle the ever present battle between taste and nutrition, helping home cooks create nutritious and tasty meals that can feed a crowd. In each episode, Julie and Ezra try to help a group of people find the right balance between food that’s healthy for the heart and tasty for the tongue. Whether at a ballroom dance academy, or an all female motorcycle club, the goal of each episode is a food truce, as Ezra and Julie try to help their subject spice up the flavour while creating a healthy meal.

In the first episode, Ezra and Julie pay a visit to the Markham Firehall in order to try and save their kitchen by introducing tasty and nutritious recipes. Will the firefighters enjoy these new heart-healthy meals or will Ezra and Julie’s efforts go up in flames? Viewers can tune in to see these two hosts go head-to-head in the name of food when Healthy Gourmet premieres Saturday, July 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Just in time for Stampede Citytv gets you out of the line-up, past the bouncer and opens the doors to the legendary night club Cowboys, home to some of the biggest er…’personalities’ in the bar business.

“This was a great opportunity to partner with local Calgary production company Corkscrew Media to present a behind-the-scenes look at an iconic Canadian Venue” commented Alain Strati, VP of Specialty and Development, Rogers Media Television.

The Calgary Stampede is known for its competitive sporting events, agricultural fair and live musical performances but it is renowned for its nightlife! Cowboys – one of the hottest tickets in town – is a place where dreams can come true and hearts can be broken all in one night.   People flock from all over to get a glimpse of the girls and guys of Cowboys, but what is it really like to work there?

This one-hour Citytv special event (aired as two back-to-back, half-hour episodes), two-steps viewers into the fast lane, providing an unprecedented no-holds-barred all-access view of club life during the busiest two weeks of the year — Cowboys-style! Follow all the headaches, heartaches and histrionics of the bar’s suave and savvy owner, ridiculously attractive servers, buff bartenders, dour doormen, party-hungry clientele and attention-seeking celebrities.

How does ‘Boss-man’ Shaun handle the pressure? What happens when personalities clash? Can ‘Queen Bee’ Cherie (remember her – the one that caught Prince Harry’s attention?) cope with new staff behind her bar? Who gets hurt when working relationships turn into something more – the boss or the beer girl? Can a bikini contest come between friends? And just what happens when Jersey comes to town?

Cowboys premieres Friday, July 3 at 9pm ET/CT/MT/PT on Citytv.

Ok fans, so we may not be promised any new episodes until September, but ABC has recently reincorporated Grey’s Anatomy into their summer schedule so if you’re missing out on your Grey’s Anatomy fix and don’t own the DVD box sets like I do, you won’t have to wait until September to get your fill.

With limited viewing options available for the remainder of the summer, ABC’s turning back to Grey’s Anatomy to fill the void, and hopefully capture more viewers who, after watching the 5th season for the first time, will have no choice but to become first-time viewers when season 6 begins to air. And, let’s face it, Grey’s Anatomy is like Pringles…once you pop, you just can’t stop.

Unfortunately for Canadians who don’t receive ABC’s programming, CTV has yet to turn to rerunning episodes of Grey’s Anatomy since their new lineup of summer programming seems to be doing pretty well.

Is it September yet?
