The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien Debut Viewer Ratings

The debut of Conan O’Brien on last night’s THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN O’BRIEN on /A\ was the most-watched late night talk show on Canadian television last night, more than doubling the season average of THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO. Preliminary overnight data reveals that 328,000 viewers watched the series premiere at 11:35 p.m., up 128% compared to season-to-date averages. The premiere was an overwhelming hit with younger viewers, with more than seven times as many A18-34 viewers than average.

In O’Brien’s first show at the helm, he spared no time introducing viewers to his irreverent, self-deprecating humour surrounded by his original LATE NIGHT sidekick Andy Richter and band leader Max Weinberg. “Thank you very much (please!) it’s coming across as angry now,” O’Brien greeted the standing-O audience at his new studio. “At least we know the applause sign works, that’s nice.” O’Brien’s inaugural guest, comedian/actor Will Ferrell riffed about his new film Land of the Lost before closing with a special song he had prepared for the occasion. Pearl Jam closed out the evening.

In tonight’s episode, Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks sits down with O’Brien along with musical guest Green Day. Tomorrow, Julia-Louis Dryfus, Bradley Cooper, and Sheryl Crow pop by the studio. Gwyneth Paltrow, Joel McHale, The John Mayor Trio, and Ryan Seacrest round out the week.

LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN airs Monday-Friday at 11:35 p.m. ET on /A\.
