America's Got Talent Season 4 Premiere

As the awe-inspiring Susan Boyle phenomenon from BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT continues make headlines around the world, fans of the series format have another reason to be excited with the return of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT on ‘A’ this summer. Kicking off its fourth season with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, June 23 at 9 p.m. ET, followed by a third hour on Wednesday, June 24 at 9 p.m. ET, the uber-talent competition features performers from across the United States showcasing their special talents in the hope of winning $1 million.

New this season, comedian/actor/ writer/producer/musician Nick Cannon (THE NICK CANNON SHOW, Bobby), joins the series as a first-time host.  The series also continues to feature a dynamic panel of celebrity judges including David Hasselhoff (BAYWATCH), Sharon Osbourne (THE OSBOURNES) and Piers Morgan (BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT).

Last summer, AMERICA’S GOT TALENT was the #1 most-watched, regularly-scheduled program on ‘A’ in the Toronto market’s key adult demos. In Vancouver, the series also earned top marks as the #1 most-watched program (P2+) on ‘A’ during its summer 2008 season. 

With the talent search open to acts of all ages, AMERICA’S GOT TALENT has popularized the variety format. The series features a colourful array of hopeful stars, including singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians and ventriloquists, all vying for their chance to strut and perform on stage to win America’s hearts – and the $1 million prize.

Auditions were held in cities including Los Angeles, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Washington D.C., Chicago, Illinois; Boston, Massachusetts; Austin, Texas; New York, New York; Miami, Florida; Seattle, Washington; and Houston, Texas. This year, contestants also had the opportunity to upload audition videos on MySpce. The show’s producers will review submissions and selected participants will take part in an audition show dedicated solely to MySpace submissions. Contestants will compete for slots in the semi-finals and finals. All of the acts will be eligible for the $1 million grand prize.
