The Bachelorette: Season Premiere

She might not have been the one for Bachelor Jason Mesnick but Jillian Harris definitely captured audience attention with her Canadian ease and charm.  Now the Alberta native will have her chance to find love when – for the first time ever in the series’ history – a Canadian Bachelorette has 30 bachelors competing for her affections.  Season five of the romantic reality series The Bachelorette premieres May 18 on Citytv.

“Given the success of the latest season of The Bachelor and the way audiences across North America embraced Jillian on the show, we expect the upcoming season of The Bachelorette to do extremely well with Canadian audiences.” commented Malcolm Dunlop, Executive Vice President Programming, Rogers Media Television.

Over the course of the newest season of The Bachelorette, the vivacious 29 year old restaurant interior designer who currently resides in Vancouver, B.C., takes 30 would be suitors on an adrenaline fueled romantic ride. Canada becomes Jillian’s personal playground as she takes some of the bachelors to her hometown of Vancouver, ziplining through a mountain in Whistler and the ride of a lifetime aboard The Rocky Mountaineer. The excitement continues with some of the most adventurous dates ever including jetting to California, Hawaii and Spain.

With five additional Bachelors this season, bringing the number from 25 to 30, ranging from tall dark and handsome city boys to country crooners, dueling dancers and scene stealers, Jillian has some difficult decisions to make.  Each week, the bachelors who don’t measure up with be eliminated.  At the end of the journey the Bachelorette may find true love, but after all of this will he pop the question and will she say yes?

Season Premiere Episode

25 eligible men arrive from all over the country in an attempt to win Jillian’s heart, including an Olympic cyclist, a break dance instructor, a pizza entrepreneur, a commercial pilot and a wine maker, as well as a successful lawyer, general contractor, business developer and oil and gas consultant.  Jillian is treated to displays of affection including a country song to a dance off as she sets out to find a bachelor worthy of the first impression rose.  As if she didn’t have her work cut out for her already, in a stunning twist five additional bachelors arrive and crash the party.

In the end, Jillian presents her “first impression” rose to the man who managed to stand out in the crowd of eligible contenders.  Although Jillian has found her footing and is confident that her future husband is among the bunch, she must eliminate ten of the 20 bachelors leaving 20 men to vie for her heart.
