Canada's Next Top Model Elimination: Alexandra and Tiffany

Tonight’s premiere of CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL on CTV saw drama of statuesque proportions with not one, but two finalists packing up their high heels. Alexandra, 22, from Penticton, BC, chose to leave the competition and Tiffany, 23, from Toronto, ON, was the first girl eliminated by the judges. Viewers who missed the premiere can watch encore presentations on Star! and FashionTelevisionChannel, Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET; on MTV, Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET; and a special Sunday night catch-up broadcast on ‘A’ at 10 p.m. ET. Episode 2 premieres next Tuesday, June 2 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

The first episode strutted right into action unveiling the Top 11 finalists. The girls were immediately thrown into their first photo shoot challenge where Creative Director Nolé Marin introduces them to their exotic partners – a vulture, a wolf, a snake, and a bobcat – and their equally fierce photographer, Nigel Barker. Heather from Halifax best rocked the big hair, bold prints, and feral sidekicks at the 80s-glam shoot and took home the first challenge title. The prize: a fashion shoot on the ice floes off Canada’s East Coast. Heather chose Jill and Nikita to go along for the cool ride.

At the photo shoot, the first causality of the CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL competition was revealed when Alexandra tearfully quit the competition due to pain from a previous injury. Her unexpected exit had the girls atwitter as they moved into their new, celeb-calibre digs at the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel overlooking Toronto’s skyline. More drama ensued and the first sign of cattiness reared its ugly head when Heather, Jill, and Nikita returned to the loft to find that they have their own room and a spread of special gifts waiting for them.

During the first elimination, the girls were introduced to the judging panel: FASHIONTELEVISION’s Jeanne Beker, supermodel Yasmin Warsame, Montreal native and A-List photographer Mike Ruiz, and guest judge Nigel Barker. Although one competitor had already gone home, the judges still sent Tiffany packing.

Now nine contestants are left to vie for a modeling contract with Elmer Olsen Model Management, an editorial spread in FASHION Magazine  and a $100,000 beauty contract from P&G Beauty: makers of Cover Girl, Olay, Crest Whitestrips and Perfect 10 by Nice ‘n Easy.

In Episode 2 (Tuesday, June 2 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV), Jay Manuel and Nolé Marin turn the girls into models with the beloved – and sometimes dreaded – makeovers. Then the newly-polished models face another challenge with someone who knows celebrity style and a photo shoot at the stunning Galleria Italia – The Art Gallery of Ontario’s sculpture gallery designed by Frank Gehry. But the fun of photos, makeovers, and challenges all come to an end when another girl gets the boot and goes home.
