– CTV wins every hour in primetime last night –

Toronto, ON (March 6, 2009) – CTV’s AMERICAN IDOL continues to be a ratings juggernaut in its 8th season, winning its timeslot every night this week, including last night’s head-to-head win against the fading SURVIVOR. With the Wild Card show determining the final four positions in the Top 13, AMERICAN IDOL (2.1 million) outlasted SURVIVOR (CBS/Global, 1.8 million) by 17% at 8 p.m. AMERICAN IDOL performed particularly well in younger demos, up 30% over SURVIVOR among A18-34 and 12% among A18-49.

AMERICAN IDOL contributed to another Thursday night knock-out for CTV, which was the only network to deliver more than one million viewers in every timeslot from 8-11:30 p.m:

7 – 8 p.m.

CTV’s leading combination of ETALK (367,000) and ACCESS HOLLYWOOD (406,000) once again led ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT CANADA (292,000) and ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT (396,000) on Global.
8 – 9 p.m.

AMERICAN IDOL, which has seen its A18-34 audience increase 6% this year, continues to attract mass audiences three nights per week. Last night’s success over SURVIVOR is particularly evident in Toronto, Canada’s largest television market, where it outperformed the competition in every demo.

CSI won the night with 2.47 million viewers, millions more than both THE OFFICE (NBC/Global; 558,000) and 30 ROCK (NBC/City; 448,000). CSI becomes most-watched program of the week so far.
