Spring is in the air, but to help Canadians get over the final winter hump, CBC Television presents two great comedy series guaranteed to chase the winter blues away. THE HA!IFAX COMEDY FEST debuts on Monday, March 9, at 9 p.m. and promises the best comedy from Atlantic Canada and around the globe with over 36 performers. THE WINNIPEG COMEDY FESTIVAL follows at 9:30 p.m. and is the top-rated Canadian standup comedy series on television. The theme basedEvery show has a unique theme format popularized by the ensuring a fresh batch of new comedy Winnipeg Festival ensures a fresh crop of new material each week.

For a dozen years, Canada has looked to Halifax and laughed! THE HA!IFAX COMEDY FEST returns with six new episodes and, once again, Newfoundlander Mark Critch (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) hosts. Television viewers go on a fast-paced, whirlwind tour of the festival with dozens of performances in various venues around the city.

March 9 at 9 p.m. – Guests include Alonzo Bodden, Jonny Harris, Greg Morton, Debra DiGiovanni, Irwin Barker, Fred MacAulay, ANT, Ryan Belleville and Rich Hall.

March 16 at 9 p.m. – Craig Robinson, Erica Sigurdson, ANT, Jeff McEnery, Greg Morton, Pete Zedlacher, Jay Malone, Jonny Harris and Roman Danylo.

March 23 at 9 p.m. – Debra DiGiovanni, Jean Paul, Pete Zedlacher, Jonny Harris, Irwin Barker, David Hemstad, Matt Billon, Jeff McEnery, Rich Hall Nick Beaton and Peter White.

March 30 at 9 p.m. – Greg Proops, Johnny Harris, Phil Hanley, Sugar Sammy, ANT, Erica Sigurdson, Jay Malone, Darcy Michael, Matt Billon and Mike Wilmot.

April 6 at 9 p.m. – John Moloney, Fraser Young, Dave Hemstad, Mark Little, Greg Morton, Jean Paul, Alonzo Bodden, Matt Billon, Jeff McEnery, ANT, Cathy Jones and Nick Beaton.

The award-winning THE CBC WINNIPEG COMEDY FESTIVAL airs its seventh season, with six half-hour specials featuring some of Canada’s hottest and best comedians, plus some very special guests.

March 9, 9:30 p.m. – TYING THE KNOT
Here comes the bride – a bunch of jokes that only the groom will laugh at – and only when she’s not looking. Tim Steeves, Teresa Pavlinek and Kevin McGrath look at marriage, before, during and after the nuptials. Real life comedy couple Colin Mochrie and Debra McGrath host.

March 16, 9:30 p.m. – THE MEDICINE SHOW
If viewers find themselves busting a gut and rolling on the floor, it could be a hernia, but then again, it could be the CBC WINNIPEG COMEDY FEST. Either way, Thank God for universal health care. Darrell Dennis, Simon Rakoff and Brad Muise are the cure for what ails you. And if host Mike Wilmot asks you to play doctor, don’t do it.

March 23, 9:30 p.m. – GAME ON
Whether you are a playoff widow or the organizer of the hockey pool, we have laughs for you. Erica Sigurdson, Harry Doupe and Deb Williams are hosted by hockey legend Dennis Hull whose wit is a quick as his wrist shot.

March 30, 9:30 p.m. – BON VOYAGE
A good vacation will add years to your life if the travel doesn’t kill you. Baber Sidiqui (of Little Mosque on the Prairie – played by Manoj Sood) is your tour guide through the highways and skyways. Jimmy Tingle, John Wing, and Geri Hall remind you that it’s all in fun—until you get to the security gate.

April 6, 9:30 p.m. – CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL
It’s a jungle out there as Rick Currie, Big Daddy Tazz and Don Kelly have you laughing like hyenas. Roman Danylo is the leader of this wild pack and he ain’t playin’ possum.

April 13, 9:30 p.m. – ARE YOU KIDDING
Raising a child is a serious responsibility best left to someone other than comedians. But if you have to do it, let this series be your guide. New dad Gerry Dee hosts with fatherly wisdom. Mrs. Hughes, Ali Rizvi and Al Rae offer the kind of advice that will leave Dr. Spock turning in his grave.
