Jimmy falloon Takes Over From Conan O'Brien

Comedian and expert impersonator Jimmy Fallon (SNL) takes over the reigns from Conan O’Brien as the host of the highly popular comedy-talk franchise LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON, weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT on ‘A’ beginning Monday, March 2 (visit Atv.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Fallon will be joined by Robert De Niro and Van Morrison, recently confirmed as guests for the premiere. Executive produced by Canuck Lorne Michaels (SNL) and joined by recently announced head writer A.D. Miles (DOG BITES MAN), LATE NIGHT will continue to serve as a platform for comedy, music and A-list talent out of Rockefeller Center Studio 6B in New York City. Conan O’Brien’s final show is Friday, February 20 before taking over as host of THE TONIGHT SHOW on ‘A’ in June.

Fallon first garnered attention in 1998 when he joined the cast of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, quickly becoming an audience favourite for his impressions of actors and musicians as well as creating many memorable recurring characters. In 2000, he became co-anchor of the popular segment “Weekend Update” alongside Tina Fey (30 ROCK). Fallon went on to appear in the Emmy Award-winning miniseries BAND OF BROTHERS and made his feature-film debut in Almost Famous. He also had starring roles in the films Taxi and Fever Pitch.

Fallon launched his LATE NIGHT video blog (or “vlog”) December 8 on www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com, giving viewers behind the scenes access in preparation for the show’s official launch. “I’m really excited and anxious about it,” said Fallon on his vlog. In his first post, Fallon also introduced his new house band, the critically acclaimed Grammy Award-winning hip-hop band The Roots. Named one of the 20 greatest live acts in the world by Rolling Stone Magazine, The Roots will bring their eclectic hip-hop sound to the new LATE NIGHT show.

Since debuting online, Fallon also has introduced his studio announcer, shown off scale models of the new LATE NIGHT set, taken viewers backstage at some of his stand-up appearances, answered viewer questions in his weekly “Ask Jimmy” segment and introduced them to his family in upstate New York. In addition, the vlogs have featured guest appearances from current SNL stars Fred Armisen, who tested Fallon’s interview skills while posing as a bad guest, and Will Forte, who offered to compose the show’s theme song.

Emmy Award-winner Lorne Michaels (SNL) is LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON’s executive producer. Emmy Award-winner Michael Shoemaker (SNL) is the producer. Writer/actor A.D. Miles (DOG BITES MAN) is head writer. Gavin Purcell (ATTACK OF THE SHOW) serves as co-producer.

LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON is a production of Universal Media Studios in association with Broadway Video Entertainment and will be taped before a live audience.
