Bravo!FACT Presents offers cutting-edge Canadian short films – an eclectic mix of dance, drama, animation, and spoken word – produced with Bravo!FACT grants.

November 9 / 14 – In honour of Remembrance Day, Bravo!FACT Presents features three shorts exploring the effects of war. Nowakowsky: A Forgotten Master tells the story of a Jewish composer whose music was banned by the Nazis; the aftermath of conflict drives the plot of Homecoming; and during WWI, young men leave women behind to pick up the pieces in One Square Mile.

November 23 / 28 – A boy’s world is drastically altered due to his unusual illness in Billie Mintz’s lushly animated The Long Journey Home. A series of seemingly inconsequential events are set in motion to disastrous consequences in Lara Azzopardi’s Rewind. Mark Montefiore’s Back in ’93 steps back in time with 10-year-old Tino, a closet Montreal Canadiens fan living amongst die-hard Maple Leafs fans. Kurt Browning takes to the hockey rink with a combination of figure skating, hockey, dance and hip hop in Clarence Ford’s In the Groove.

November 30 / December 5 – Bravo!FACT Presents showcases five shorts related to love. Broken Hearts Club visits members of a dating service for the relationship impaired. In the operatic The Perfect Match, two lonely sock puppets embark on a quest for love; 30 Love is an exploration of love and life and getting the most out of the “game”; Valentine Haircut is a bittersweet tale of miscommunication; and a cartoon tries to seduce viewers in MOOD (My Obscure Object of Desire).
