Toronto, ON (October 30, 2008) – Canada’s national snowboard team embarks on the ultimate journey towards the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games in MTV PRESENTS: SUMMER SESSIONS. Premiering Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, the 60-minute, original, reality-drama special is a prequel to the upcoming original snowboard series OVER THE BOLTS. Commissioned by Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium and produced by MTV, OVER THE BOLTS is the first of many original programs commissioned by the Consortium for CTV and its channels in advance of the 2010 Winter Games.

Filmed over the course of four weeks in Whistler, BC in June 2008, MTV PRESENTS: SUMMER SESSIONS features some of Canada’s most accomplished snowboarders, including Michael Lambert (Toronto), Kimiko Zakreski (Calgary), Dominique Vallée (Montreal), Jasey-Jay Anderson (Mont Tremblant, QC), Alexa Loo (Richmond, BC), Pat Farrell (Oakville, ON), and Simon Bonefant (Mont Tremblant, QC).

With 15 months remaining until the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, the Canadian national snowboard team isn’t wasting any time. This group of competitive athletes has started training for their long journey towards the podium. This “summer session” is the first of a series of training opportunities for these riders as they battle big mountains, bad weather – and each other – for the few coveted national team placements. Some of them will make the Olympic team – some will not.

MTV stays with the Canadian national snowboard team as they continue their journey in the new original series OVER THE BOLTS. Commissioned by Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium and produced by MTV’s in-house Field and Documentary Team, the 10-episode, half-hour series follows the team as they continue to prepare, train and compete for a spot on the Canadian Olympic snowboard team. OVER THE BOLTS, which began filming this month in British Columbia, is set to air on MTV in 2009. Executive Producers are Don Young, Mark McInnis and Ben Rotterman. Senior Producer and Director is Tom Chenoweth.
