When legal aid striker Frank Dresner (guest star Justin Hagan, New Amsterdam) is killed outside the courthouse, the sand in Dresner’s wounds lead Lupo and Bernard to investigate a greenskeeper at a local golf course – Ted Sanderson (guest star Brad William Henke, October Road), who had already served nine years in prison for the murder of his wife. Due to the legal aid strike and the shortage of defense attorneys, Rubirosa is ordered to represent the defendant, pitting Rubirosa and Cutter against one another.

In Game 1, it’s the Kardashian family (playing for The Dream Foundation) vs. Deion and Pilar Sanders’ family (playing for Sanders Claus). In Game 2, Tiki Barber’s family (playing for The Fresh Air Fund) vs. Ed McMahon’s family (playing for The Horatio Alger Association) face off. The two winning families from each respective game will compete against each other in the final round where one team will compete in the “fast money” round to win up to $50,000 for their charity.
