Each week from across the country, two very different families take part in a two-week long challenge: The wives exchange husbands, children and lives (but not bedrooms) to discover just what it’s like to live in another woman’s shoes. This week, a woman dedicated to raising pigs swaps lives with an eclectic, artistic belly dancer who lives a life of glamour.

Sold out stadiums, legions of fans, and 70-million albums sold worldwide – New Kids On The Block walked away from it all when they called it quits in 1994. Staging one of the most anticipated band reunions ever, the New Kids are back to prove that they still have “The Right Stuff.” Only days ago, eTalk’s Lainey met with the boy band phenom in Toronto for a dream interview and the chemistry was electric! Fans can join Lainey backstage where she gets the latest scoop – plus a flirty invite to join the upcoming tour! – by watching the half-hour exclusive eTalk Special: New Kids On The Block, airing Friday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET exclusively on Star! – Canada’s Entertainment Channel. (Encore presentations: Saturday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 22 at 9:30 p.m. on Star!).

Reuniting just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their multi-platinum album “Hangin’ Tough,” Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, and Danny Wood, get set to share the stage when they kick off their world tour in Toronto this September.

In eTalk Special: New Kids On The Block, eTalk reporter and gossip maven Lainey sits down with the gold standard of the 1990s boy band, uncovering the turmoil of their split, and charting the road to their big comeback. Giggling and flirtation spices up an often hilarious heart-to-heart, where the now 30-somethings share their thoughts on being back in the studio together for the first time after more than a decade. Lainey digs deep, discovering how they feel about reprising New Kids as they approach 40, and their delight at the surprising crush of a loyal fan base who are still here after years of obscurity from the pop music scene. The massive, ridiculous fame they walked away from looms on the horizon as the New Kids prepare to go on world tour. No one but Lainey gets the goods on how they feel about re-opening the door to millions of swooning fans, now that most of the New Kids are married with families.

Unearth The Secrets of the World’s Most Prized Gem in Unsolved History: The Hope Diamond, July 11 on Discovery Civilization Channel

The Hope Diamond is one of the most notorious gems in human history. Premiering Fri., July 11 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on Discovery Civilization Channel, the one-hour special Unsolved History: The Hope Diamond traces the lineage of this famed blue diamond and presents evidence it may have been cut from an even larger parent stone.

First appearing in history in 1812, the 45 carat Hope Diamond was sold to Henry Philip Hope who paid 18,000 pounds for the gem – the equivalent of one million dollars. After changing hands numerous times – including the hands of famed jewellers Pierre Cartier and Harry Winston – the stone was donated to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in 1958.

Using state-of-the-art imaging and computer modeling technology, combined with new measurements of the Hope Diamond and historical records and sketches of the Tavernier Blue Diamond and the French Blue Diamond, a leading team of researchers at the Smithsonian work to prove that the Hope Diamond was cut from the French Blue Diamond after it was stolen from the French Crown Jewels in 1792.

Watch as the brilliant researchers, including Jeffrey E. Post, Smithsonian curator of gems and minerals; and Steven Attaway, engineer and gem cutter, uncover the complicated history of this prized stone.

Will virtual computer models of the three diamonds show that the Hope Diamond fits exactly within the French Blue Diamond – a clear indication of its proposed lineage?

Trace the historical path, owner-by-owner, of the world’s most captivating stone and uncover its secrets in Unsolved History: The Hope Diamond.

Journey back through time with Discovery Civilization to revel in humanity’s defining moments. Meet the people, cultures and ideas that have shaped our common past, and those that will dictate our future. Discovery Civilization is about learning where we came from and knowing where we can go.

A Thrilling Look at Wildlife Conservation Comes to Animal Planet with Two New Perspectives – Investigation Earth with Jeff Corwin and Raw Nature – Starting July 17

Open your eyes to the effects of human development on wildlife around the world with two edgy new series, Investigation Earth with Jeff Corwin and Raw Nature.

This immersive perspective on conservation starts Thurs., July 17 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT during Animal Planet’s month-long freeview* with Investigation Earth with Jeff Corwin.

In this enlightening one-hour special, animal expert Jeff Corwin gets up-close-and-personal with endangered animals all over the world to find out how humans have altered animal habitats in the wilderness. Corwin’s passion for conservation and his love for animals is infectious – but more importantly, the cutting-edge scientific research he conducts in the wild is key to helping save animal life around the globe.

As a trained biologist and anthropologist, Corwin’s findings become part of the solution as he spotlights the conservation challenges that humans are both creating and solving.

Following Investigation Earth with Jeff Corwin, is the heart-pounding series Raw Nature. Premiering Wed., July 30 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT, this five-part series presents a striking new entertainment perspective on animal adventures with non-experts.

Raw Nature follows filmmakers Matt Renner, Mitch Tanen, Gianny Truttman and Anneli Gericke as they travel across the world to document first-hand accounts of dedicated wildlife professionals working to help animals survive human encroachment. Used to filming the action – not being part of it – the producers are caught off guard with their too-close-for-comfort encounters with some of the planet’s deadliest creatures, including Komodo dragons, white rhinos and giant anacondas.

With conservation as its focus, this series offers an unprecedented look at the intersection between human nature and animal instinct and is a serious reminder that the world needs balance to ensure its own survival.

Howard Engel

Audiences can crack the case on Howard Engel, the brainchild behind Canada’s most enduring crime fiction character Benny Cooperman, in Capturing Cooperman: A Not So Private Investigation of Howard Engel. Premiering Sunday, July 6 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo!, Capturing Cooperman chronicles the Canadian writer’s life and work.

After penning his sleuth series for more than 25 years, Engel became the first crime writer to receive the Order of Canada. Honoured for his contribution to Canadian crime fiction, Engel’s personal story proves that he shares the indomitable spirit of his fictional private eye.

Following a debilitating stroke in 2001 that left him unable to read, Engel returned to writing. Now he’s writing better than ever.

“A lesser person would have just folded up his desk and gone away. It’s a great act of will for Howard to write, and it’s very difficult. It’s really a testament to his courage and his passion for what he does,” says fellow writer Tony Aspler in Capturing Cooperman. Also weighing in during the documentary are The Toronto Star’s Philip Marchand, HarperCollins’ Jim Gifford, and Engel’s daughter Charlotte.
