When the job is not what he expected, Jack partners with another government employee, Cooter (guest star Matthew Broderick, The Producers), to scheme on how to get fired. For his plan to work Jack must enlist the help of former girlfriend C.C. (guest star Edie Falco, The Sopranos). Meanwhile, Liz is slowly adjusting to life without Jack as a daily sounding board – especially when she has a pregnancy scare involving Dennis, the “former” Subway Hero (guest star Dean Winters, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).

When a legal aid striker is killed outside the courthouse, the sand in his wounds lead Detectives Lupo and Bernard to investigate local golf course greenskeeper, Ted Sanderson (guest star Brad William Henke, October Road), who has already served nine years in prison for the murder of his wife. Due to the strike and the shortage of defense attorneys, ADA Connie Rubirosa is ordered to represent the defendant, pitting Rubirosa and Cutter against one another.

Dad, Sindo, is a civilian contractor in Iraq, leaving his wife, Michelle, home alone for five months at a time with three rambunctious children — Sindo, 9, Ashley, 7, and Mikey, 6. Mom is easily overwhelmed and rides a daily rollercoaster of emotions, waiting for dad’s regular email to reassure her that he has survived another day. Her frequent crying, yelling and overreaction to the kids prompts them to respond with hostility and behavior that quickly spirals out of control. Can Jo help these parents with tools to ease some of the pressure of this new family dynamic?

Meanwhile, an awkward moment between venture capitalist Meghan Doyle (guest star Kelly Preston, The Tenth Circle, Death Sentence) and Joe could tear their business partnership apart.

Robert Wagner (Hart to Hart, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) returns as Teddy, Evelyn’s new husband. Jenny McCarthy (Scary Movie 3, Louder than words: A Mother’s Journey in Healing Autism) returns as Courtney, his devious daughter. George Eads (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) makes a cameo appearance.
