Adamo Ruggiero from CTV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation – Jan.23

Toronto, ON (January 18, 2008) MTV in Canada delivers hot discussion topics and three distinct flavours of rock on its flagship interactive series, MTV Live. Adam Ruggiero, The Mars Volta, Hot Hot Heat and Protest The Hero all have guest turns next week.

It’s all about coming out of the closet when Adamo Ruggiero of CTV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation joins hosts Daryn Jones and Nicole Holness to chat about whether or not gay rights in Canada have changed. Adamo talks about his own sexuality and what it has been like coming to terms with it. Rounding out the show on Wednesday, January 23 at 6 p.m. ET is Protest The Hero. The hardcore performers are currently touring Canada with Silverstein and they stop by to dish on their new studio effort Fortress. Then the band rocks the audience with their unique brand of fairy-tale metal.

Hosts Daryn Jones and Jessi Cruickshank talk about the popularity of game shows, which are making a huge comeback in the wake of the ongoing writers’ strike. Afterward, Hot Hot Heat spills on their latest album Happiness LTD before hitting the stage to perform their latest single Harmonicas & Tambourines on Monday, January 21 at 6 p.m. ET.

In their first Canadian television performance, The Mars Volta drops by on Tuesday, January 22 at 6 p.m. ET to chat with hosts Daryn Jones and Aliya-Jasmine Sovani. The band rocks the pod with a wild, high-energy performance from their brand new album The Bedlam In Goliath, which hits stores on January 29. They also sit down with Daryn and Aliya-Jasmine to spill on their current tour. The hosts also chat about mainstream versus underground – everything from the music and the comedy scene to fight clubs and gambling rings. Fans who want to add their two cents to the conversation can join the discussion via webcam.
