Corner Gas Once Again Trumps Heroes Monday Night on CTV

CTV’s Corner Gas continued to distance itself from the competition Monday night as it attracted more viewers than a simulcast of Heroes for the fourth week in a row, preliminary data from BBM Nielsen Media Research confirms today. Corner Gas delivered 1.29 million viewers at 9:30 p.m., up 19% head-to-head against the second half-hour of Heroes (NBC/Global, 1.08 million viewers). The much-hyped Heroes episode, which promised to reveal “this season’s secrets” last night, landed in a distant ninth place on the list of most-watched programs on Canadian television last night.

On a competitive Monday, CTV ended the night with the Top 5 most-watched programs on Canadian television, led by CSI Miami (#1, 2.37 million) and Dancing with the Stars (#2, 2.2 million).

Monday’s win follows yet another strong Sunday night on CTV, which also saw CTV claim the Top 5 most-watched programs on Canadian television. Led by Desperate Housewives (2.06 million) and The Amazing Race (2.03 million) – which has now entered the Top 10 list of the most-watched shows in Canada – CTV delivered more than one million viewers from 7 p.m. through the end of The CTV National News at 11:30 p.m.

CTV’s Without A Trace received its highest audience for the past two seasons on Friday to become the most-watched drama on Canadian television that night with 1.23 million viewers (besting Las Vegas on Global by 35%). The achievement is even more notable considering that the episode, which was the conclusion of a cross-over story arc with CSI, aired out of simulcast on CTV a day following its CBS broadcast.

All audience figures represent preliminary overnight data from BBM Nielsen Media Research.
